Terms of use

You must be 16 or older to hold an account, and registering means confirming that you are. An account found to belong to someone younger is deleted, along with what it published. One account per person.

When you register, the site records which version of these terms you accepted and when.

Keep your email account, your passkeys and any password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Tell us at legal@codbuilds.com if you think somebody else is in it.

Nothing in the builder is saved until you press Publish. A published build is public: anybody can open it, copy its share code and fork it, signed in or not.

A published build has two parts. The loadout, the weapon and its attachments, is fixed once published. Changing it publishes a new build linked to the old one. It is also a share code that anyone can decode, so it is not something you own or can recall. Your publication is the title and description you wrote, shown under your handle. You can edit or unpublish it.

Unpublishing deletes your title and description and takes your handle off the build. It does not remove the loadout: its page can still be opened by its code, it stays up under anybody else who published the same loadout, and builds forked from it keep their link to it. Deleting your account can take down all your publications at once; see the privacy notice.

You keep whatever rights you have in what you write. By publishing it you give the site permission to store it, show it and pass it on to the people it is shown to, until you unpublish it. You confirm that what you post is yours to post.

A Gunsmith screenshot sent through Contribute is read by the extractor and checked by a moderator before anything from it reaches the catalog. Personal details in the game HUD are blanked out of the copy moderators see, and the file as you sent it is deleted on the schedule that page and the privacy notice set out.

By sending one, you give the site permission to store it; to make and keep the blanked-out copy; to read it automatically and show the copy and the readings to moderators; to put the statistics a moderator approves into the catalog, where they stay; and to use the blanked-out copy and approved readings to test and improve the extractor, including in a private test set. The permission lasts for as long as the privacy notice says each of those is kept, and for the catalog and the test set, for as long as they exist.

That permission covers only what is yours to give. What the screenshot shows of the game belongs to Activision, and you are not asked to license it. Send only your own screenshots, and only of the Gunsmith screen. Do not send anything showing another person’s details.

No harassment, hate or threats, in a handle, a build description or a report. No impersonating another player or pretending to speak for this site or for Activision.

No posting anybody’s personal details, including your own address or anyone’s real name. No advertising, spam or link farming in handles or descriptions.

No automated scraping, bulk downloading or load testing, no attempt to get round rate limits, moderation, account deletion or the permission system, and no attempt to reach data the site has not handed you.

Content that breaks these rules can be hidden or removed, and an account that breaks them can be suspended or deleted. Where it is practical you will be told why; where the breach is serious it may happen first.

Reporting a build or an account sends it to a moderator. A report is not a guarantee of an outcome.

Call of Duty and Modern Warfare are trademarks of Activision Publishing, Inc. They are used here only to say which game these builds are for. Weapon names, attachment names and the in-game statistics behind them describe Activision’s game and are not claimed by this site.

The site’s own code, layout, writing and design belong to codbuilds.com. Build descriptions belong to the players who wrote them.

If something on this site infringes your copyright, write to legal@codbuilds.com with the work concerned, the address of the page it is on, how to reach you, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised. Material found to infringe is removed, and an account that repeats it is closed.

The site carries no advertising today. It may carry advertising later to cover what it costs to run. If it does, the adverts will be marked as adverts, they are not recommendations, and what an advertiser says is the advertiser’s. The privacy notice will be updated before any advert is served, and where the law requires consent for advertising cookies you will be asked first.

Weapon and attachment statistics here are collected from players’ screenshots and from share codes. They can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and a game update can make all of them wrong at once. Where a figure is not known the site says so rather than guessing, but nothing here is an official number.

The site is provided as it is, with no promise that it will be available, that it will keep working, or that anything on it is accurate. It may change or stop.

As far as the law allows, codbuilds.com is not liable for loss that follows from using the site or from relying on anything on it, including lost data, lost time, or a build that did not play the way a stat line suggested. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

codbuilds.com is run from Ontario, Canada. These terms are governed by the law of Ontario and the federal law of Canada that applies there, and a dispute about them or about the site is for the courts of Ontario.

If the law where you live gives you protection that an agreement cannot take away, you keep it: neither this clause nor the liability clause above removes it, or stops you bringing a claim in the courts where you live if that law lets you. The data protection law that applies to you keeps applying too; the privacy notice says how your data is handled.

These terms can change. A small change, like clearer wording, only moves the date at the top. A change to what you agree to is a new version with its own effective date, posted here at least 30 days before it takes effect, and account holders are told about it directly. Where the law requires it, you will be asked to accept the new version before you carry on using your account.

If you do not accept a new version, you can delete your account from account security before it takes effect, and the old terms apply until then.
